Some journeys leave a mark. Not because of where you go, but because of what you feel, taste and take back with you.
When Camilla Hamid — cookbook author, TV chef and one of Sweden’s most inspiring baking voices — joined us at C Mauritius and C Rodrigues, the experience naturally unfolded around what matters most: flavours, people and moments that don’t try too hard. Mauritius revealed its vibrant rhythm and generous energy, Rodrigues, its quieter pace, raw beauty and rare authenticity. Two islands, two moods — connected by the same effortless C spirit.
We sat down with Camilla to let her tell the story, in her own words.

- Tell us a little about you — what’s your story in a few lines?
My name is Camilla Hamid. I’m a professional sweet tooth, cookbook author and TV chef, and I run Sweden’s largest Instagram account dedicated to baking. I’m also the founder of the Stockholm-based bakery Sweets by Camilla. I love travelling the world to gather inspiration, flavours and stories that later find their way into my recipes.
- What was your most beautiful discovery during this trip and your favourite memory — the one you’ll keep replaying?
Without a doubt, the people. The staff at both resorts welcomed us with such genuine warmth and kindness that I immediately felt at ease. That feeling of being truly cared for is something I’ll remember long after the trip.
- What moment felt the most “C” to you (the vibe, the energy, the feeling)?
The playful, relaxed atmosphere—joyful, colourful and full of life. It perfectly captured that effortless “C” energy where everything feels light, warm and inviting.
- What are the top 3 dishes or ingredients that truly marked you and why?
Vanilla, mango and lychee.
The vanilla was aromatic and deep, the mango incredibly vibrant and sweet, and the lychee so floral and delicate—flavours that instantly spark creativity for me as a baker.
- Was there one flavour you’d love to recreate back home?
The mango sorbet. I still dream about it: unbelievably creamy, intensely fruity and perfectly balanced. I can already imagine translating that flavour into a dessert of my own.
- Three words to describe Mauritian & Rodriguan?
Warm. Vibrant. Soulful.
- If you could describe this trip in one sentence, what would it be?
A journey filled with warmth, flavours and moments that stayed with me far beyond the destination.
- What are you taking home with you (beyond the photos)?
Inspiration in its purest form. New flavour memories, a sense of calm, and a renewed creative spark that I know will influence my baking for a long time.

Camilla’s journey across C Mauritius and C Rodrigues felt like the perfect match: curious, flavour-driven, and never forced. Watching her connect with the islands — from ingredients to encounters — was a reminder that the best discoveries happen when the vibe stays light and the experience stays real.
C you soon!
